Harvest-time Fun!

For those of you who know me well, you know how much I love the Fall season and everything that comes with it.  Every year when the magical month of October rolls around my family braces itself for being dragged to pumpkin patch's (yup, that's multiple), apple orchards, hay rides, corn mazes, color tours... the list goes on and on... you get the idea.  This year we were lucky enough to have my husband home to enjoy Fall's fabulous-ness with us!  I know he was happy when the season finally ended... I'm not so sure that he could have stomached one more pumpkin doughnut or chased the kid around one more pumpkin patch.  You're a good sport, babe!  143.
This morning, while digging through my photo files, I found these photographs from one of our apple/pumpkin picking trips.  The orchard was lovely (we'll be going back this year) and created beautiful backdrops for many of our photos (can you say Fall mini sessions?!?).  Here is a quick tour of this wonderful (and hilarious) day.  Enjoy.

We started out doing a corn maze.  If you have ever been in a corn maze (which we had not) here is how they work.  You sign in at the starting point with your name and the time you entered the maze.  This is so they can rescue you should you get terribly lost in the rows of corn.  Frightening.  They hand you a list of clues and a map that helps you navigate through the maze.  Most people take about an hour to get through the maze.  We cleared it in 20 minutes.  No, no, I had nothing to do with it.  I am 'directionally challenged.  They would have had to bring in the helicopters to find me had I entered that maze myself.   My husband, USMC extraordinaire, navigated us through that maze so fast that Gabe and I hardly had a chance to figure out where we were or what was going on!  His face in that bottom picture says it all!  Hahahaa... such a funny memory.  :)

Next, we hit the orchards for some apple picking.  I think this was one of the first times that we realized that our son was turning into a little boy.  He was 2 months away from turning 2 and he was such a big helper while we choose which apples were going to come home with us.  We also enjoyed eating the apples right off the ground.  How rustic of us.  ;)  Pesticides-schmesticides!  Who cares!  WE WERE LIVING OFF OF THE LAND!!!

And then we chose our pumpkins.  See!  I was there!  You have no idea how long I have waited and wished to have a little one of my own to take on these seasonal adventures.  It was so wonderful to experience the magic of a pumpkin patch through his little eyes.  I love these pictures... :)

Look at my family.  I am so blessed.  I love you guys.

I have failed to mention how warm it was on this day.  It was unseasonably HOT for October!  We were over dressed and all in dark colors and denim.  By the end of the day we were drenched and irritated.  Gabe rode home in his diaper.  Doesn't matter though.  Looking back at these images I feel as though it was one of the best days ever.
